Sofia plant: BA envisage the following investment projects in Sofia production site for the 3Q2020:
  1. Construction of new production workshop with a new glass melting furnace with daily capacity 370t/d. The implementation of the investment project will not have a negative impact on the environment, because as a part of this investment, the operator will build a new treatment plant to reduce air emissions from the operation of the new glass melting furnace. The new treatment plant will include an electrostatic filter with additional equipment for reducing of nitrogen oxides and sulfur oxides emissions. The investment intention envisages the construction of a new chimney, through which the treated waste gases from the new furnace will be discharged. The new treatment facility will assure compliance with air emission levels in accordance with Best Available Techniques in the glass industry and national legislation.
  2. Increase of daily capacity of currently operated furnace from 330t/d to 370t/d. The project will not impact negative to the environment because the increased capacity will be reached mainly due to better furnace utilization and bigger share of glass cullet used for recycling. Since 2014 this furnace is equipped with CerCat filter with ceramic candles for reduction of air emissions with respect to dust, nitrogen oxides and sulfur oxides. The CerCat filter will continue to assure compliance with air emission levels in accordance with Best Available Techniques in the glass industry and national legislation.
  3. Construction of New covered warehouses for ready production storage – 15 600 m2 and 32 520 m2. The new covered warehouses for storage of finished products subject to this investment will be of concrete base, metal construction and provided with lighting and fire protection through a newly designed fire ring on the production site, in accordance with the requirements of national legislation. The new warehouses will fully meet customer requirements as well as the ISO standards that the company maintains.
NEW FURNACE IN PLOVDIV (BULGARIA)

In 2019, BA will rebuild the Furnace PV 4 with the increased capacity from 180 t/day to 390 t/day.
The new PV FU4 will be high efficiency end-fired regenerative furnace.
The project will not negatively impact the environment because in the frame of previous investment project the plant operator has installed a new common filter to all furnaces in operation on BA Plovdiv territory. The new treatment plant includes an electrostatic filter with additional equipment for reducing nitrogen oxides and sulfur oxides emissions. The new treatment facility will assure compliance with air emission levels in accordance with the Best Available Techniques in the glass industry.
For the planned investment project, the plant operator has started legal procedures for issue of new IPPC permit.
